Markos was born in South Ethiopia and completed his veterinary degree after being awarded a scholarship in Slovakia. Having originally worked in practice and at the veterinary school in Slovakia, Markos moved his family to the UK in 2005 and worked as an Official Veterinarian (OV) in the Meat Hygiene Service and the Food Standards Agency. Markos joined the liVEsTock partnership in 2018 as a dedicated TB Tester.
In Kosice – Slovakia’s second largest city – there is a monument where famous Ethiopian winners of the Kosice Marathon are inscribed and, even though Markos’ name is not among them, he did participate a couple of times. Nowadays, in his spare time, Markos goes long distance running and walks in the countryside, as well as the coast. He also dedicates some time to charity work.
